Dedication

I dedicate this work to two people whose memories I cherish. Firstly,  to my grandfather, James Petrie Rouleau, a man who never lost his decency and kindness despite all of the loss and hardship he endured in his long life. He fostered in me the passion for history which led to the writing of this story, and his inheritance gave me the means to produce it. Secondly, to my friend Brennan Thomas Jones, whom I met on my orientation trip before beginning school at Salisbury University.  We were both to be communication majors and discovered that we shared a mutual love of film and great storytelling.  We discussed perhaps collaborating on a project, which finally came to fruition in my last semester there, with the staging of my first play Conscientious Objectors, in which he appeared. He also provided invaluable logistical and technical support. Brennan was one of the most positive people I ever met, and his tragic passing in July of 2024 was a shock and blow to all who knew him. And so, I dedicate this work to the man who helped me bring my words to life for the first time. Act strong, brother. Salisbury has established a scholarship in his name: https://salisbury.academicworks.com/opportunities/675
